Rescued dog helps veteran find joy in life

Red close up

Red is a rescued dog who honorably adopted a disabled Vietnam-era veteran named Bobby, bringing many smiles and much joy back into her life. Together they share their journey with Pets for Patriots and the veterans we serve every day.

Red close upWell it’s been a while, but Pets for Patriots is anything but forgotten. Congrats on the two year mark! As you can see Red is doing great, just bigger then he was. He has more then taken over the house, and I would never have it any other way. That, and he makes a great back warmer on cool evenings.

As you can see Red has even taken over my bed. He and I have become really close to each other, to the point that if I give him a cookie in his crate when I go downtown he won’t touch it until I get back.

He means everything in my life and has a way of making things good for me. You helped make our lives pretty good, and as it seems you are helping so many others.

Red is curled up next to me on my dinette seat; he really is a major part of my life. But please let this not be just about me and Red. There are so many veterans that could benefit from the love of a pet and so many pets that need a home. Christmas is close at hand; if it were in my power I would give every veteran that wanted a pet – a pet – so they could share the bond that Red and I have.
It is because of Red that I am able to find the smile that I thought had all but been lost long ago.
Red smilingMerry Christmas to you and your family and to all the people who have worked so hard to make Pets For Patriots a wonderful reality. To our veterans, my humble thanks.
~ Ms. Bobby and Mr. Red
