About Prince George’s County Animal Management Division
Prince George’s County Animal Management Division offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans through its partnership with Pets for Patriots, and will help them find their new best friend. In a new, 37,00 square-foot state-of-the-art facility since 2009, the organization makes every effort to ensure positive and lasting adoptions.
As part of its commitment to the well-being of the animals in their care, Prince George’s County Animal Management Division temperament tests all dogs over six months of age prior to adoption, and offers new adopters four free-one hour training sessions during which pet-person teams are taught basic commands to allow for a well-mannered dog. In addition, the shelter offers free pet parenting classes for individuals who have never had a pet or have not had one in a long period of time.
Prince George’s County Animal Management Division welcomes monetary donations, as well as in-kind contributions of dog beds, pet toys, cat litter and various cleaning and shelter supplies; see their complete wish list for details. For a more hands on experience, become one of their valued youth or adult volunteers.
