About Peoria County Animal Protection Services

Peoria County Animal Protection Services offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans through its partnership with Pets for Patriots.

Peoria County Animal Protection Services (PCAPS) is responsible for enforcing animal control ordinances, rabies control, operating an open admission shelter and offering quality pets for adoption. In any given year, PCAPS takes in over 4,000 domestic and wild animals. While many dogs and cats come to the shelter as strays, nearly 30% are brought to PCAPS by owners who could no longer keep their pets.  Our goal is to find the best possible outcome for every animal that comes to our door.

Peoria County Animal Protection Services welcomes monetary donations, as well as in-kind donations such as cat litter, cleaning products and other basic supplies. See their complete wish list for details. For a more hands on experience, become one of their valued volunteers.
