About Michigan Humane Society Detroit Center for Animal Care
The Michigan Humane Society operates three full-service veterinary centers and offers quality, discounted care to Pets for Patriots members. Founded in 1877, the Michigan Humane Society cares for more than 100,000 animals annually, and is the state’s oldest and largest animal welfare organization.
The shelter operates adoption and veterinary centers in Detroit, Rochester Hills and Westland, in addition to permanent in-store adoption centers at area Petsmart and PETCO stores. All Michigan Humane Society locations participate in Pets for Patriots.
The Michigan Humane Society offers humane education programs for children, assistance with pet behavior and low-cost spay/neuter and vaccinations through its three, on-site veterinary centers. As part of its commitment to the well-being of all animals in its community, the Michigan Humane Society’s Centers for Animal Care operate Protect-A-Pet low-cost clinics, held at various locations throughout their service area, where they offer a range of age-appropriate vaccinations and low-cost microchip for permanent identification.
