Kitsap Humane Society offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans in Silverdale through its partnership with Pets for Patriots. Founded in 1908, the organization is a tireless advocate for homeless, lost, ill and unwanted animals.
In addition to pet adoption, Kitsap Humane Society has an Animal Rescue and Enforcement team to investigate abuse complaints and enforce local animal cruelty ordinances. To support responsible pet ownership, the shelter offers various classroom-based education programs and low-cost spay/neuter. Pet owners can contact the organization for help correcting common behavioral issues, and the shelter features an innovative short-term foster program that provides a temporary safe haven for pets belonging to victims of domestic violence, people experiencing job loss, homelessness or other unexpected life changes.
Kitsap Humane Society welcomes monetary and in-kind donations; see their complete wish list for details. For a more hands on experience become one of their valued volunteers or fosters.
