An estimated $4-$7 billion in matching gift revenue goes unclaimed every year. That is a staggering amount of money that could be put to good use by nonprofit organizations around the country – like ours.

Many people do not realize that their employers will match charitable contributions.

Yet 93 percent of companies will double your donation of $50 or less. And 80 percent of employers matching gift maximums are between $500 and $10,000 annually per employee.

How to double your donation

When you donate to Pets for Patriots online you will see an option to check if your employer will match your gift. You can submit matching gift requests to your company electronically, or using a paper form.

Your employer will send us a request to verify that a contribution was made and issue a check to double your donation.

If you are donating to Pets for Patriots by mail, ask your human resources department for a matching gift form. Complete the employee section and mail the form to us.

We will verify your donation and send the completed form back to your employer.

Double your donation in time

Corporate matching gift programs have submission deadlines within a set number of months after the date of donation. These typically are between 3-12 months.

Some employers accept match submissions at the end of the calendar year in which your gift was made. Still others require match requests to occur by the end of the quarter in which the donation was given.

Gift requests received after your employer’s matching gift deadline will not be eligible for a match. Make sure you know your employer’s submission deadline.
