About Portsmouth Humane Society

The Portsmouth Humane Society offers dog and cat adoptions to Pets for Patriots member Patriots in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and will help them find their new best friend. One of the longest-serving humane societies in the community, the organization is committed to promoting permanent pet adoption, humane education and responsible pet ownership. To help reduce pet overpopulation, the Portsmouth Humane Society operates a low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination program in cooperation with local partners. Recognizing the value of companion animals to senior citizens, the organization offers reduced adoption fees through its Pets for Seniors program.

The Portsmouth Humane Society accepts monetary donations, as well as donations of pet food, blankets, towels, comforters and other essentials on their wish list. For a more hands-on experience, consider becoming one of their valued volunteers.
