About The Animal Shelter of Texas County
The Animal Shelter of Texas County (TASTC) offers dog and cat adoptions and will assist Pets for Patriots members in finding their new best friend. Since its founding in 2006, TASTC has placed hundreds of dogs and cats each year who had been left to fend for themselves in all types of weather conditions, were abused, or surrendered by owners who simply could not keep them any longer.
TASTC is a no-kill animal shelter, where all animals are given a safe haven until they are adopted out into loving homes. While the organization primarily serves residents of Texas County, it transports dogs and cats all over the United States.
As part of its commitment to animal and community welfare, TASTC operates a Healing Paws Program in partnership with the Missouri Department of Corrections. Through this program, shelter dogs are fostered at the state prison in Licking, Missouri, where select offenders assist in rehabilitating the dogs to improve their chances of adoption. In addition, TASTC administers Texas County Animal Health Care Days, which offers a reduced rate to the public for spay/neuter, and provides rabies vaccinations for pets through county veterinary offices.
TASTC welcomes monetary donations, as well as blankets, pet treats and toys, leashes and cleaning supplies; ask at the shelter for their complete wish list. For a more hands on experience, become one of their valued volunteers or pet fosters.
Adoption fees include:
Spay/neuter or spay/neuter $25 off voucher
Age-appropriate vaccinations, including rabies and bordatella
Bathed/groomed as needed
