About Tacoma – Pierce County Humane Society

The Tacoma-Pierce County Humane Society offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans in Tacoma through its partnership with Pets for Patriots, and will help them find their new best friends. Founded in 1888 and now the state’s largest animal welfare agency, the organization is an open admission shelter that finds homes for all adoptable pets in its care.

As part of its commitment to responsible pet ownership, the shelter subsidizes spay/neuter surgeries at local veterinary clinics for income-qualified families, offers low-cost microchip implantation and operates an emergency pet food bank. To help promote the pet-person bond, the organization provides comprehensive information for owners to find and be reunited with a lost pet.

The Tacoma-Pierce County Humane Society welcomes monetary donations, as well as contributions of used blankets and towels, high-quality canned pet food, Kong toys and other items; please visit their website for a complete wish list. For a more hands on experience, become one of their valued volunteers or pet fosters.
