About Peninsula SPCA

Peninsula SPCA offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans in the Newport News area in partnership with Pets for Patriots, and will help them find their new best friend. In operation and sheltering animals since 1963, Peninsula SPCA will become an adoption-guarantee, or “no kill” shelter, in the spring of 2014.

As part of its commitment to humane education, Peninsula SPCA operates a petting zoo for people to interact with barnyard animals, and conducts group tours of its facility to acquaint members of the community with its mission and work.

Peninsula SPCA welcomes monetary donations as well as in-kind contributions of pet food and toys, kitty litter, stainless steel food bowls and various cleaning supplies; see their complete wish list for details. For a more hands on experience, become one of their valued volunteers or pet fosters.

Adoption fees include:

Initial vaccinations
Microchip for permanent identification
Flea treatment
Collar/leash or temporary carrier
One month of free pet health insurance
