About Michigan Humane Society
The Michigan Humane Society offers pet adoptions to Pets for Patriots member Patriots in Southeastern Michigan and will assist them in selecting their new best friend. Founded in 1877, the Michigan Humane Society cares for more than 100,000 animals annually, and is the state’s oldest and largest animal welfare organization.
In support of its mission, the Michigan Humane Society operates a range of community and animal welfare programs. It investigates animal cruelty complaints in Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park, and performs injured and stray pets rescue 365 days a year.
To help reduce pet overpopulation and promote responsible pet ownership, the Michigan Humane Society offers humane education programs for children, assistance with pet behavior and low-cost spay/neuter and vaccinations through its three, on-site veterinary centers.
The Michigan Humane Society welcomes monetary donations, in addition to a wide range of pet and office supplies; see their complete wish list for details. For a more hands-on experience, become one of their valued volunteers or a pet foster.
Adoption fees include:
Spay/neuter
Age-appropriate vaccinations
Basic medical exam
Behavior assessment
Fecal test
Heartworm test (dogs)
Microchip for permanent identification (cats)
One free office visit within 10 days of adoption (cost of treatment not included)
$10 Discount on microchipping at time of dog’s adoption
