About Humane Society of Harford County

The Humane Society of Harford County offers dog and cat adoptions to members of our program and will assist them in selecting their new best friend. Founded in 1947, the shelter is a private, nonprofit, open-admission animal support organization dedicated to providing compassionate care to the homeless, abandoned and neglected animals of Harford County. As an open-admission shelter, The Humane Society doesn’t discriminate based on age, appearance, health or breed and accepts all animals that are brought into the shelter.

The Humane Society of Harford County provides a safe and healthy temporary shelter and seeks loving, permanent homes to ensure the long-term welfare of the animals in their care. As part of its commitment to promote the special bond between people and companion pets, the organization promotes responsible pet ownership, humane education and advocates for humane pet population control through local spay/neuter programs.
