About Fayetteville Animal Protection Society
The Fayetteville Animal Protection Society (FAPS) offers dog and cat adoptions to Pets for Patriots member Patriots in Cumberland County and will assist them in selecting their new best friend. Founded in 1982, FAPS is a no-kill shelter, providing a safe haven for unwanted animals and a progressive approach to placing them in forever homes.
FAPS has cultivated a close working relationship with Fort Bragg as a result of its proximity to the base, and refers deploying personnel to a military pet outreach network for guidance on pet foster care. By state law, FAPS cannot take in strays, but does allow owner surrenders with temperament testing and a small fee if the animal is accepted. In addition, the organization rescues from kill shelters to give as many adoptable pets as possible a second chance at life.
As part of its ongoing commitment to owner education and responsible pet care, FAPS offers an innovative "Adopt a Classroom" humane education program, disaster preparedness tips and information on choosing and caring for an adopted pet.
The Fayetteville Animal Protection Society welcomes monetary donations, in addition to a wide range of pet, office and medical supplies; see their complete wish list for details. For a more hands-on experience, become one of their valued volunteers.
Adoption fees include:
Spay/neuter
Species-appropriate vaccinations, including rabies
