About Austin Pets Alive!

Austin Pets Alive! offers dog and cat adoptions to Pets for Patriots members and will help them find their new best friend. The rescue’s mission is to promote and provide the resources, education and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals. As a testament to its efforts, in  2011 the city achieved a 91% save rate, officially making it a no-kill municipality.

Austin Pets Alive! fills the gaps in the community by identifying the problems that lead to dogs and cats being killed at the shelter, and creates innovative programs to overcome these specific problems. To enhance the adoption potential of the pets in their care, the organization offers off-site locations through its mobile adoption truck and has partnered with the city to help adopt out dogs and cats at the Austin Animal Center.
