About Castaway Critters Pet Rescue

Castaway Critters Pet Rescue offers dog and cat adoptions to members of our program and will assist them in selecting their new best friend. Established in 2006, the no-kill animal rescue group serves residents in Clay County North Carolina as well as Towns and Union Counties in Georgia. Castaway Critters is dedicated to responsible pet ownership and to humane pet population control, including support of spay/neuter programs and collaboration with other community animal welfare organizations.

As part of its no-kill commitment, Castaway Critters provides lifelong care for some long-term shelter residents that are unable to find a forever home, due to medical or behavior issues. The all-volunteer organization offers many opportunities to support the animals in its care, including various volunteer and pet sponsorship opportunities. In 2007, the shelter took over and updated a kennel that fell into disrepair, and now features 14 inside/outside runs for dogs, a cat “house” and 13 outdoor exercise areas located under magnificent old shade trees.
