About Carteret County Humane Society

The Carteret County Humane Society offers pet adoptions to Pets for Patriots member Patriots and will assist them in selecting their new best friend. As its county’s only animal shelter, the Carteret County Humane Society takes in all stray and owner-surrender animals in Carteret County. In addition, the shelter helps residents reclaim or post lost pets and educates owners about the importance of spay/neuter and proper pet identification. The organization works cooperatively with local and out-of-state rescue groups to rehome as many animals as possible, in addition to adopting out homeless dogs and cats in its charge.

The Carteret County Humane Society welcomes your donation of paper towels, dry dog and cat food, newspapers and pet toys; see their donation wish list for details. For a more hands-on experience, become one of their valued volunteers, visit their Morehead City thrift store or contribute to their urgent needs cases.
