About Canines With a Cause

Canines With a Cause offers dog adoptions to members of our program and will assist them in finding their new best friend. The organization saves dogs from high-kill shelters in neighboring states and cares for them in their 18-kennel facility until they are adopted. While under the care of Canines With a Cause, dogs are evaluated, fully vetted and trained, either as service or therapy dogs or, if they are not suitable for these functions, as well-mannered companion pets through the organization’s Diamonds in the Ruff adoption program.

While Canines With a Cause focuses on pairing veterans with dogs that are appropriately trained for their needs, dogs in the Diamonds in the Ruff program are open to any qualifying adopter. All training, whether for service, therapy or companion purposes, follows a ‘train the trainer’ approach, where the person and pet are trained together to ensure the most productive match.
